sdg:purpose

sdg:purpose states, in prose, why the declared resource exists and who consumes it. It is authored on two document types:

  • On a Constellation Graph. The lexicon's declaration is the working example: its purpose names the intent ("self-knowledge of the Sparqdown stack … the LLM-facing authoring assistant's grounding source") so an operator inspecting the constellation, or a reviewer gating the declaration's publish, can judge the graph without reading its loader code.
  • On a Source Definition, it says why the source was registered — the Wikidata demo source states its purpose as general-knowledge lookups for family members researching outside the org's own corpus.

Unlike sdg:tooltipSummary — one sentence for hover cards — the purpose can run to a paragraph and is aimed at humans evaluating the declaration, not at pickers.

Usage

  • Domain: sdg:ConstellationGraph or sdg:SourceDefinition. Range: string literal. Optional; at most one per declaration.
