marketing-material
The marketing-material label classifies a document as outward-facing promotional content: it exists to persuade buyers and prospects, not to specify, describe, or govern the systems it mentions. Marketing material speaks the audience's language before the product's — claims in it are chosen for resonance and must never silently diverge from what the product actually does.
When to apply
- Messaging platforms and positioning documents (audiences, value propositions, canonical one-liners).
- Landing-page and campaign copy, hero text, taglines.
- Pitch scripts, decks, and film narration addressed to buyers.
When not to apply
- Explanatory or onboarding content aimed at users of the system (use documentation instead).
- Documents that create requirements (use technical-requirement).
- Internal specs and design notes, even when they discuss messaging strategy — the label marks the outward-facing artifact and its source of truth, not every discussion about it.
Interaction with Tags
Workflow state is expressed via Tags, not Labels. A document labelled marketing-material can simultaneously carry workflow tags (draft, in-review, published) applied by a tagging authority — the two axes are orthogonal.
